The founder of city-based Sea View Sports Club, Hugh Fernandes, passed away at his residence in Bandra on Monday afternoon. Fernandes, 75, who suffered a cardiac arrest, was passionate about sports, especially football and hockey. He enjoyed many roles as player, promoter and administrator. He founded Sea View Sports Club hockey and football teams for both men and women, which he ran for almost four decades.

The Sea View teams gave opportunities to upcoming football and hockey players to showcase their talent. Fernandes also played an active role as an administrator and served the MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) for several years.
