While the Pesi Shroff-trained Jendayi may be the hot favourite for the HPSL Indian Derby (Gr 1) based on the form factor, a detailed analysis of their last victorious runs on the same day (January 14) on the Mahalaxmi racetrack, very strongly points to the possibility that with little luck, Enabler may be able to shock the Pesi Shroff-trained unbeaten filly.

On that day, Enabler won the 2,000m RR Ruia Gold Cup and Jendayi won the 2,400m Villoo C Poonawalla Indian Oaks (Gr 1). While both winners clocked timings that were equivalent to class I performance, a look at the internal fractions of the races, between 600m to 200m, makes it clear that Enabler's power of acceleration was vastly superior to Jendayi's turn of foot, even accounting for the difference in distance (400m). I feel there is a good reason to believe that Enabler, in the hands of his regular partner Yash Narredu, will be able to reproduce similar acceleration over the mile-and-a-half trip of the Derby, and not only pose a very serious threat to Jendayi, but may actually finish ahead of her. And with Jamari having recently traveled from Bangalore, and Synthesis perhaps having run the worst race of his career in last start, Enabler seems to be well-placed to beat Jendayi and corner the Derby glory.
