Merry Christmas, Serena
Australian TV interviewer Renae Stubbs had an awkward moment when she asked Serena Williams, who is a Jehovah's Witness, what she got her sister Venus for Christmas. "We don't celebrate Christmas at all," Williams told the Australian former player during the on-court interview. "But we hung out together and we had a great time," added the world number one.
Marital affair
Li Na said Carlos Rodriguez saved her marriage after he took over coaching duties from her husband, Jiang Shan. "He saved my marriage. It's much easier for my husband to be a husband, he's not my coach anymore," said Li. Jiang, usually in the stands when Li plays, has long been the butt of Li's jokes about his snoring and their domestic life. And she said he wasn't much use in the kitchen. "He can't really cook. It's easier if he just pays for me (at a restaurant)."
Granny knows best
Victoria Azarenka reiterated her love for her grandmother and revealed that she even chose her name, overruling her parents. "I have to thank her because my parents wanted to call me Daria, and I don't think that suits me at all. They actually put that on my birth certificate. My grandmother was like, 'No, no, no, you can't name her that. She has to be Victoria,'" said the world number two, adding: "I don't know how to describe the love that I have for this woman. She's just so happy all the time. It's incredible."
