Union Bank of India registered a 7-6 win via tie-breaker over ONGC to clinch the nine-a-side Major Dhyan Chand hockey tournament title at Sports Authority of India, Kandivli yesterday.

ONGC opened the scoring via Diwakar Ram’s penalty corner conversion in the 12th minute. In the second half, Ram scored again to make it 2-0 in the 22nd minute.
Three minutes later, Union Bank’s Harjit Singh pulled one back after scoring from a penalty corner. Harjit then equalled the scored in the 30th minute. With both teams locked at 2-2, the game went into a tie-breaker.
In the tie-breaker, Aquib Shaikh, Rajendra Pawar, Suraj, Nitin Kumar and BK Mutanna scored for Union Bank of India. For ONGC, Sumit Kumar, Ram, Harpal Singh and Amit Kumar scored, while YS Gulia missed the target.
