Indian riding star Trevor Patel, who went without a win with his first five mounts on the Sunday card at Mauritius, finally scored a fluent victory with his last mount of the day — the 18-10 favourite Roventas — to keep the Indian flag flying high in the International Jockey Challenge organised by the Mauritius Turf Club in which riders from all over the world were specially flown in for the occasion.

The local crowd went delirious with joy as Trevor pulled Roventas on the outside after passing the 300-meter marker and went for the whalebone, powering the bay horse to fly past the front runners and sail away for a comfortable victory in the Alena Groupe Cup, the eighth race on the card.
With the victory, Trevor managed to grab a joint sixth position in the Jockeys Championship tally, finishing with 10 points.
