American tennis great revealed she was bed-ridden for six weeks after giving birth to her first child following a string of health problems, including blood clots on her lungs. The scene went from bad to worse for Serena, who welcomed daughter Alexis Olympia in September last year. Though her emergency Cesarean section went well, things quickly went bad. "I was like, a Doppler? I needed a CT scan and a heparin drip," she told Vogue magazine yesterday.
Serena admitted the first few months of motherhood have been more emotional than she'd expected. "Sometimes I get really down and feel like, Man, I can't do this. It's that same negative attitude I have on the court sometimes. I guess that's just who I am. I've broken down, I don't know how many times," she added.
