Rio de Janeiro: Individual 400m bronze medallist Lashawn Merritt anchored the United States to a convincing victory in the men’s Olympic 4x400m relay on Saturday.

Arman Hall, Tony McQuay, Gil Roberts and Merritt, the only member of the quartet to have won relay gold in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, finished with time of 2min 57.30sec.
Jamaica’s Javon Francis produced a great home stretch on the final leg to ensure silver for his country in 2:58.16. Defending champion the Bahamas took bronze in 2:58.49.
