In a special ceremony, super horse Quasar, the galloping goldmine who created a record by winning Rs 6.5 crore as stakes money, was proudly paraded by his connections to a warm applause by the racegoers at the Mahalaxmi racecourse paddock.

Multiple garlands made of red roses had replaced the usual saddle on Quasar's back as he walked imperiously in anti-clockwise direction around the paddock, flanked on both sides by what is now come to be known as the "Quasar Team".

The entire Quasar team comprising of trainer Malesh Narredu, jockey Yash and owners Jaydev Mody, Tanmay Agashe and Madhav G Patankar was felicitated by the race club on this special occasion as Quasar gets ready to leave Mahalaxmi with an eye on his second Turf Invitation Cup to be run on Sunday, March 6, at Chennai.

"Quasar vindicated all of us," owner Jaydev Mody said, referring to the public outcry that followed the horse's invitation cup victory over Be Safe, "he's a hero, a once-in-a-lifetime horse--a true champion." Quasar, on his way to becoming the greatest stakes earner in Indian turf history, had later convincingly beaten Be Safe at Bangalore, not once but twice, to ridicule those who had insinuated uncharitable things about his Invitation Cup victory at Mumbai.

"I feel blessed, and I am extremely grateful to the owners for letting me ride this champion," young Yash Narredu who became the youngest jockey to win the Turf Invitation Cup astride Quasar in March last year.
