Pop star Nicole Scherzinger hasn't let her split from long-time boyfriend and Formula One star Lewis Hamilton earlier this year bring her down. The 36-year-old is instead keeping herself fighting fit by doing yoga.

Nicole, who has in the past confessed to having dealt with bulimia — an eating disorder, now seems to be leading a healthy lifestyle and taking her yoga seriously.

Serious advice
She started her week with a session of yoga. The singer even posted a picture of herself doing a perfect split mid-headstand on her Instagram account. She captioned the image with a piece of advice for her fans, "Monday morning #yoga! Never stop stretching and challenging yourself. First headstand!"

The former Pussycat Dolls star thus joins a pantheon of Hollywood celebs like Lady Gaga, Alessandra Ambrosio and Jessica Alba, who have lauded the importance of yoga.

The songstress, who wowed her fans with her tight torso and toned legs, loves to dance to keep fit. "It (dance) keeps me in shape," she was quoted by an entertainment portal as saying. "I'm like a drill sergeant — my choreographer is, too."

The fitness enthusiast also includes cardio sessions in her regime. "I do a 30-45 minute jog twice a week and a lot of circuit training in the gym," she said.

"I alternate from a few minutes of cardio to sets of 12 on each exercise. I like one leg dead lift squats and bed-overs using 10 pound weights."

But unlike others who believe in fad diets, she doesn't starve herself to be in shape.

"I love food," she said. "If I deprive myself, I'm going to want it more. I snack on yogurt, raw cashews and cherry tomatoes."

But life hasn't been rosy for her. Talking about her battle with bulimia, which is characterised by binge eating, she said, "It is such a horrible paralysing disease and it was such a dark time for me.

That's why I can empathise so much with people who have demons and voices in their heads, who aren't nice to themselves. It robs you of living your life. But you can recover and you can get rid of it forever," she said.
