IT'S not only international sportspersons who have to endure a tough schedule. Aryan Goveas and Nikhil Passi yesterday provided examples of how tennis kids too face the heat when it comes to living up to their on-court commitments.

Both kids had to play finals at two extreme ends of the city.

Aryan kicked off his All India Tennis Association Championship Series under-12 final at DY Patil Stadium, Nerul against Yash Yadav of Madhya Pradesh at noon. After losing to the Indore lad 2-6, 4-6, he was soon on a train to reach Azad Maidan for his 3.30 pm semi-final of the MSSA-Nike inter-school event.

The Vibgyor School (Goregaon) lad took no time to shrug off his disappointing experience in Nerul and beat Tanmay Thakkar of SVKM (Vile Parle) 6-3, 6-4 to advance to the final of the under-12 inter-school event.
"I am exhausted," said Aryan after his ninth match of the week.

"I could have performed much better here (at the inter-school tournament). I now have to take enough rest so I can play well in the final." Aryan faces Rian Pandole of Cathedral today.

Earlier in the day, 12-year-old Nikhil Passi of Hansraj Morarji School (Andheri) had to travel to Nerul for the AITA meet after losing (4-6, 5-7) his inter-school under-14 semi-final to Karan Mehta at Azad Maidan. At Nerul, he was demolished 0-6, 0-6 by Nikhil Kanan in the under-14 AITA final.

"I am disappointed to lose both matches. I was exhausted before the second match at Nerul, but I will do my best in the semis of the inter-school boys team championship," said Nikhil.
