America's champion skier Lindsey Vonn, 32, could have her wish of racing against men, granted next year. The US Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) is set to propose Vonn's entry into the men's field in a downhill race in 2018, and the sport's governing body, FIS, could consider the proposal in its pre-season meetings in Zurich on October 3 and 4.

The race could well be at Vonn's favourite venue -- Lake Louise, where she's claimed 13 win downhill.
"USSA will put forward a proposal for Lindsey Vonn to participate in the men's downhill in Lake Louise," read a FIS statement on.
Vonn, an Olympic and multiple World Cup champion, has always maintained that since she has matched men in training, she should get an opportunity to race against them in competitions too.
