American supermodel Kate Upton admitted that her baseball star fiance Justin Verlander has his eyes on her all the time, not because he's smitten with her beauty, but mainly because of her love for dogs.

"Justin keeps a keen eye on me. He makes sure I don't fall fast for a dog. But actually, I have to keep an eye on him too, for the same reason!" Upton told People magazine recently.

The couple kick off their Grand Slam Adoption event tomorrow in Florida. Both Upton and Verlander share the same love for their canine pals. The 24-year-old Upton grew up to be an animal lover, raising dogs and horses with her family. "I think they're so powerful, so healing. And it's always great to come home to a friendly, warm welcome from your pet," she said.

Upton found her own dog, Harley through a portal while Verlander found his pooch Riley at a shelter. "A lot of shelter dogs get a bad rap, but it's so important for people looking for dogs to check out shelters. I think it's important for people to save an animal if they can," Upton explained.
