Second seed Sindhu got the better of the Japanese fifth seed 21-12, 21-19 in a contest that lasted 36 minutes.

The Rio Olympics silver medallist will face Ratchanok Intanon in the last-four round. Sindhu, who has slipped a place to be number three in the world rankings, had an easy opening game as she dominated completely from the beginning till the end. In the second game, the Japanese girl fought hard and went 14-8 up at one stage before the Indian caught up at 18-18 and then went on wrap up the proceedings.
