India simply could not find the target, except for the two penalty corner conversions out of 10 but Canada, who got a handful of chances, converted three of them to beat 3-2 in the Hockey World League and with it earn a passage to the World Cup in India.

Canada became the second team, after Malaysia, to profit from India's profligacy as India, host for the 2018 World Cup looked almost looked on handing out invitations for the event.

While it was celebration time for Canada, who found the right occasion to avenge their Pool defeat to India, the latter were left wondering how to explain wasting so many chances or have their form swinging from one to another.

India finished sixth, while Canada finished fifth.

Gordon Johnston (3rd min, 44th), Keegan Pereira (40th) scored for Canada while Harmanpreet Singh, who took as many as 10 penalty corners converted two in the 7th and 22nd minutes.

Both Canada and India came into the match following big wins in their first classification match — India beat Pakistan 6-1 and Canada trounced China 7-3. While Canada still remembered how to score, India seemed to have forgotten during their loss.
