"There will be a conference call on Sunday led by the IOC president (Thomas Bach)," a spokesperson for the organisation said.
In a separate statement, the IOC said it "takes note of the announcement of the decision by the Court of Arbitration for Sport," upholding a Rio ban imposed against Russia’s track and field team. "We will now have to study and analyse the full (CAS) decision," the IOC said.
Meanwhile, the Kremlin in Moscow expressed "deep regret" over a ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport dismissing a Russian appeal against a ban over doping that bars the country’s track and field team from participating in the Rio Games.
‘Deep regret’
"The idea of collective responsibility from our point of view can hardly be considered acceptable," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists. "We can only express deep regret."
