Hyderabad: A little over 48 hours after India tennis ace Sania Mirza clinched the World No 1 spot, her Indian counterparts showed that they too possess the potential to succeed on the international stage.

India's Prarthana Thombare yet again scored an impressive win, while Ankita Raina had to work hard as India defeated Malaysia 2-0 in the Asia/Oceania Group II matches in the Fed Cup, here yesterday.
Prarthana trounced Yus Syalin Nabila Binti Yusri 6-1 6-0 in the first singles match to give India a 1-0 lead.
The second singles match between India's Raina and Jawairiah Noordin was a keenly contested affair.
However, it was the Indian, who emerged victorious in the end thanks to some good crowd support here. Raina beat Noordin 6-1, 3-6, 6-4.
India had thrashed Pakistan 3-0 here yesterday.
