Makhdoom, who married the Bolton-born husband in 2013 at New York, discussed her marriage via the new'Ask me a question’ feature on Instagram, which allows followers to ask anything they like.

One user asked: "Why did you get married so young?" Makhdoom replied: "Tbh, I have no idea." Makhdoom was just 19 when she met Amir. Another user asked: "How do you stay patient in difficult times and when your heart is broken?’ "Alhumdulilah for my bad times. It brings me closer to my creator. Remembering him gives you patience," she answered.
