Bosco boys seal U-14 Division-I and Division-III MSSA football titles on the same day beating St Stanislaus and OLPS (Chembur) 4-2 and 3-0 respectively

It was double delight for Don Bosco (Matunga) as both their U-14 teams won Mumbai Schools Sports Association (MSSA) inter-school football titles at Azad Maidan yesterday.

In the morning, the U-14 Division-I boys beat St Stanislaus (Bandra) 4-2 in the pending tie-breaker that could not be held due to bad light when the two teams played the match on October 6.
In the shoot-out, St Stanislaus missed their first two spot-kicks (Josiah Noronha and Keith Joseph) before Keegan Pinto and Anish Kaire found the back of the net.
For the Bosco boys, Nathan Murzello, Joshua D'Souza, Lance Fernandes and Aman Manghi made no mistake from the spot.
"All credit goes to our senior coaches Leslie Machado and Mohan Pillai. "Yesterday, they put in a lot of effort training the boys in penalty kicks. The boys would have taken over 50-60 spot-kicks yesterday," said Don Bosco's assistant coach Naresh Solanki.

St Stanislaus coach Jaywant Pathak said his boys did well to reach the final. "We were placed in a difficult group and did well to reach here considering most of our boys played in the U-12 last year," he said.

Less than five hours later, Don Bosco 'B' won the U-14 Division III title beating Our Lady of Perpetual Succour (Chembur) 3-0 thanks to a brace by Nihal Dudwalkar and a third goal from Joel Rodrigues.
Coach Leslie Machado couldn't recall the last time both U-14 teams had won in the same season.
"I think this is the first time that both our U-14 teams have won the title together and that too on the same day. It's double celebration time," he said.
OLPS coach Phil D'Cruz meanwhile admitted that his boys "were no match for the Bosco boys."
