Worli Municipal School played out a goalless draw against Ryan International School (Goregaon) in the Mumbai Schools Sports Association (MSSA)-organised girls under-16 Division II encounter at Azad Maidan yesterday. It was not an easy game for the Worli side's Mitali Gupta. The young midfielder met with a car accident on Thursday while on her way for practice at Jambori Maidan in Worli. After getting down from the bus, Mitali was crossing the road and a reckless driver knocked her down and drove off. Luckily, her teammate Ananya Salekar was there to help her. Mitali was badly bruised on her hands and legs, but still decided to go ahead and prepare for the match the next day.

Coach impressed
Coach of Worli Muncipal School Chhagan Chauhan hailed his student's courage. "When I saw her yesterday I was very worried and immediately asked her to sit out. She was very persistent and continued to practice along with the team. Even though she was in pain she came out today and played like a true champion. I am very proud of her," Chauhan told mid-day.

Anything for football
Mitali admitted that she was fortunate to have been saved. "I love football and no matter what the circumstances were I wanted to represent my school and play well," she added.
