India hammered Bangladesh 7-0 Bangladesh to become the first team in the Asia Cup to enter the Super 4 stage here yesterday. For India, the scorers were Gurjant Singh (7th), Akashdeep Singh (10th), Lalit Upadhyay (13th), Amir Rohidas (20th), Harmanpreet Singh (28th and 47th) and Ramandeep Singh (46th).

With a score line of 3-0 after the 1st quarter, it seemed that Bangladesh would be run over.
After all, Pakistan had also beaten them 7-0 in their first match. And with three quarters, it looked like a deluge. At the break, it was 5-0 with a promise of more to come.


"I do agree that more goals would have come but Bangladesh played defensively and that caused the speed to come down but we did have chances which we couldn't convert," said Indian coach Sjoerd Marinje. India now play Pakistan on Sunday. The Indian captain, Manpreet Singh was his confident self. "The previous results will have no bearing on the match against Pakistan," he said. "But we are ready for them."
