Eighth seed Aryan Goveas entered the $10,000 ITF Kuwait Futures semi-finals by recording the biggest win of his fledgling career yesterday.
The 18-year-old Mumbai boy shocked number 2 seed Evgeny Karlovskiy of Russia, placed 600 places above him on the ATP rankings at 474, 6-4, 7-6(4) in the quarter finals of the singles event.
Goveas, ranked 1076, will now meet number 3 seed Daniel Altmaier of Germany, ranked 476, for a place in the final of the outdoor hard court tournament being held in Meshref, Kuwait. “I am looking to stay focused and strong for two more rounds,” said Goveas, one of the most promising youngsters in the country.
