Agony and ecstasy for Sarfaraz

Though he was elated with his school's Giles Shield (U-14) triumph, Rizvi Springfield'su00a0 (Bandra) batting mainstay Sarfaraz Khan was a tad disappointed despite scoring his second triple of the season.

"I am disappointed as Anjuman conceded the match. I was going strong and could have broken my own record if the match would have continued. But overall, I am happy we won the match and the Giles Shield final," said Sarfaraz after remaining unbeaten on 314 off just 261 balls against Anjuman Islam (English) School on the third day of the Giles Shield (U-14) final at the Oval Maidan.

Sarfaraz, who has grown into one of the most feared attacking batsmen in schools cricket this season, smashed a dazzling unbeaten triple century. His triple hundred was the second he got this season after his record-breaking knock of 439 in the Harris Shield.

After winning four matches on the trot, Rizvi Springfield's (Bandra) talented youngsters continued their domination in the final as well, making light work of the Anjuman boys.

Rizvi restricted their opponents to 173, and then rode on a superb batting display, making a mockery of hapless Anjuman bowling attack to make a mammoth of 673 for 6. With the Bandra boys having an unassailable 500-run lead, Anjuman conceded the game at tea on the penultimate day.

"Besides Raja Shivaji Vidyalaya (Dadar), we didn't have much of competition in the Giles Shield. I don't think other schools have talented bowlers like Danish Mansoori and Salman Khan and skilful batsmen like Arman Jaffer and Sarfaraz Khan," said Rizvi skipper Prithvi Shaw.

"We are delighted to win the Shield for the second time in a row. I don't think we won because of our star players. The entire team has contributed to today's victory."
