India's ace marksman and Beijing Olympics gold medallist Abhinav Bindra's official Twitter account was hacked recently, most probably, by a group that calls itself the Turkish Cyber Army. One of the tweets sent out from the hacked handle was: "Operation in Afrin, I support Turkey."
A few days ago, Japanese sports goods maker Yonex also had its Instagram account hacked into and a message was uploaded claiming that the company had parted ways with India's badminton ace PV Sindhu because she hails from "poor country like India".
"Yonex says goodbye to Sindhu. Players from poor countries like India will no longer be sponsored by Yonex as we change our focus towards the Japanese youth" read the tweet alongside a picture of Sindhu in action.
Both Yonex and Bindra confirmed the hacks on Twitter but later clarified that their accounts had been normalised.
