The Court of Arbitration for Sport has registered 42 appeals by Russian athletes against the Disciplinary Commission of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the tribunal said.
The announcement on Tuesday comes in response to the sanctions imposed by the IOC following allegations of state-sponsored doping by hosts Russia at the 2014 Winter Olympics, reports Xinhua news agency.
The athletes were declared ineligible to participate in any capacity in all subsequent editions of the Olympic Games.
According to the tribunal, a CAS arbitration procedure has been opened for each athlete. The procedures are being conducted jointly and a combined hearing is likely to take place in January. It is expected that the CAS will issue a final decision for each case by the end of the month.
