More than 1,650 girls from all over the state will compete in the Punjab state rural games for girls starting in the town from Wednesday.

More than 1,650 girls from all over the state will compete in the Punjab state rural games for girls starting in the town from Wednesday.



These games are being organised by Punjab sports department and competitions would be held in ten disciples - athletics, basketball, hockey, handball, kabaddi, kho-kho, weightlifting, wrestling, football and volleyball.



"Nearly 200 officials have been deputed by the sports department for the smooth conduct of these games. The Punjab squad will also be selected during the games for the upcoming national rural sports tournament," Pargat Singh, state's sports director told reportersu00a0on Tuesday.



"All participants would be provided to and fro travelling expenses, accommodation, sports kit and diet of Rs 120 per head per day by the sports department," he added.


Administration of Talwandi Sabo in Bathinda district, around 150 km from state capital Chandigarh, has also made elaborate arrangements for the games. All preparations for the accommodation, food, transportation, medical aid and security have been completed for the games that will continue till Friday.


District police chief Ashish Chowdary said that sufficient security arrangements have been made for the opening and closing ceremonies and at the players' accommodation and games venues.
