Dashing forward Jorris Manaji hogged the limelight, scoring a hat-trick of goals, which powered St Aloysius High School (Gorai) to a convincing 5-0 win over General Education School (Chembur) in a boys U-16 Div-IV-I match of the MSSA inter-school football tournament at the St Francis D’Assisi High School ground, Borivli, on Wednesday.

Jorris showed good ball control, excellent dribbling skills and solid shooting. He scored the first goal from a solo effort in the ninth minute to give his team the lead. Five minutes later he scored the second goal as the Gorai team went into the break with a 2-0 cushion. Immediately on resumption, Flynn Bhandari struck the third goal before Jorris once again hit the target to complete his hat-trick while Rencly Manaji hammered home the fifth in the final minute of the match.

In another match of the same group, Sharda Mandir School (Gamdevi) got the better of Hiranandani Foundation (Powai) by a narrow 1-0 margin. Sharda Mandir captain Vansh Modi successfully converted a penalty in the final moments of the game to snatch the win.
