Former Sutton United goalkeeper Wayne Shaw opened up on a traumatic experience that followed after he was spotted eating a pie on the Sutton bench, as they lost 2-0 to Arsenal on February 21.
The 47-year-old landed in trouble as Sun Bets were offering 8/1 odds on Shaw eating a pie at the time, which led to an investigation. Despite reiterating his innocence, the media frenzy cost the Englishman his job.
"In hindsight, would I have done it? No," Shaw told the Daily Mail on Thursday. "It has changed my life, it has changed my wife's. People outside the door were trying to get photos after the statement was made that I resigned. It has been very stressful."
