Former Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien was honoured with an abysmal statue in his country Ghana. The statue shows Essien in his iconic blue home jersey, but his body looks severely out of proportion, while his face is jagged and lumps on it appear to be missing. The pose of him kicking a ball is similar to a beginner and his knees too are strikingly thin as compared to the rest of his legs.
The news comes after Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo's ice statue in Moscow was severely trolled on social media. There have been plenty of examples where turning a footballer into a statue hasn't quite worked out. Essein's one simply tops the list!
