Forward Theo Walcott has revealed that former England captain Wayne Rooney was one 'massive factor' which tempted him to switch from Arsenal to Everton.
Walcott, who is also the England international, signed a deal of 20 million pounds to move to Goodison Park from Arsenal, where he spent 12 years and scored 108 goals in 397 appearances.
And now Walcott revealed that his England team-mate played a crucial role in convincing him to switch to Everton.
"I had numerous chats with Wayne and that was one massive factor which really tempted me to come to Everton. He told me it was a great place to play football and a club that is on the up. Those are the reasons I came here,' Sport24 quoted Walcott, as saying.
'This is a club with great history. The fans are brilliant, they are always passionate ' and I used to find it very tough playing here. You want to be part of something and Wayne feels Everton are really going to improve,' he added.
The 28-year-old had failed to find the net in his Premier League campaign this season, making just six appearances for Arsenal this season.
He, however, scored a total of four goals across 16 matches in all the competitions.
