PSV strengthened their lead in the Dutch Eredivisie with a 3-1 win at Feyenoord with Ajax dropping points against ADO Den Haag.


Instead of putting pressure on PSV with a win, Ajax drew 0-0 against ADO Den Haag on Sunday, reports Xinhua news agency.


Without injured striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, Ajax were not able the defending wall from The Hague. Siem de Jong came closest by hitting the post with a header.

League leaders PSV had to play after Ajax and knew they would enlarge their lead to seven points with a win.

Santiago Arias gave PSV the lead at Feyenoord in Rotterdam with a header and Steven Bergwijn produced the second goal from a counter attack.

In the second half Tonny Vilhena narrowed the margin to one goal with a header, but shortly after that goal Gaston Pereiro, who replaced suspended top scorer Hirving Lozano, tipped in the third goal from a rebound.

The PSV win means the difference with number two Ajax on the table now is seven points.

PSV now lead the Eredivisie table with 65 points from 25 matches, followed by Ajax (58 points) and AZ (53 points).
