United were eliminated out of the League Cup after losing a penalty shootout to Middlesbrough on Wednesday following a goalless 120 minutes. In addition, the team have scored only four goals in their last five games in all competitions.
Reflecting on United's performance, Scholes said that the Dutchman had tightly organised the team, adding that he wouldn't have enjoyed playing under Van Gaal, the Daily Express reported.
United are currently fourth in the Premier League table, two points behind leaders Manchester City.
