ISL: No crowds at Navi Mumbai for Mumbai-Kerela match

Where are the crowds?
Given it's a Sunday, one expected the DY Patil Stadium at Navi Mumbai here be to packed to the rafters as home side Mumbai City FC took on the Sachin Tendulkar co-owned Kerala Blasters FC. However, that was not the case as there were vast pockets of empty seats visible all across. One wonders whether Mumbai's dismal show against Chennaiyin FC, where they lost 1-5, is the reason behind the missing crowds. Or could it simply be that fans chose to watch the Manchester derby, which kicked off at the same time, at home on their TV sets instead.

A different viewpoint
The Indian Super League (ISL) has garnered substantial attention abroad as was proved by the presence of a few foreign journalists in the DY Patil Stadium yesterday. For one of them however the viewing experience from the press box here proved to be a culture shock. “In France, the distance between the stands and the pitch is not so much. The press box doesn't have glass windows,” the journalist, a freelancer for French newspaper L'Equipe, observed. That's because in France football matches are not played in cricket stadiums!
