The national capital is a part of history as far as Indian football is concerned. In 1951, New Delhi hosted the first Asian Games where the Indian football team, captained by the late Sailen Manna, won gold.

Now, the city will see India's first three Under-17 World Cup games. The hosts take on USA today at the Nehru Stadium. Skipper Amarjit Singh Khiyam said: "For every player in every sport, playing the World Cup is a dream. That we'll be playing the World Cup, which happens to be the first for Indian football, is a great honour for all of us. We are too excited to be a part of history."
