Both Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid have had glorious Test careers. They made their Test debuts in the second match against England in 1986 at the iconic Lord’s Stadium. Ganguly walked in at No. 3 whereas Dravid made his presence felt at No.7. (Pic: AFP)
Sourav Ganguly was quick to justify his Test appearance as he smashed a century on debut. He scored 131 runs off 301 deliveries at a strike rate of 43.52. He also hit 20 fours and ensured that his performance goes down in cricket history. He went on to score 7212 runs in his Test career. (Pic: Getty Images)
Rahul Dravid also impressed in his debut Test appearance as he went on to score a half-century, remaining just 5 runs short of a century. He scored 95 runs off 267 balls and smashed 6 fours. He is currently placed as second-highest Indian Test run-scorer of all times with 13,265 runs, only behind Sachin Tendulkar. (Pic: Getty Images)
Virat Kohli made his debut in the red-ball format in 2011 against West Indies at Kingston. He failed to make an instant impact as he scored 4 runs in the first innings and 15 runs in the second innings, limiting his Test debut record to 19 runs. However, he quickly recovered to dominate Test cricket with his batting prowess. Currently, he is the sixth-highest Indian Test run-scorer with 8479 runs. (Pic: AFP)
All three legendary players have a combined total of 28,956 Test runs between them (and Virat Kohli is still playing). They have also captained the Indian Test team at some point in their careers. Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly’s Test debut changed the face of Indian cricket and Virat Kohli went on to establish himself as one of the Test greats. (Pic: AFP)
