Indian middle-order batsman Ajinkya Rahane plays for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy. Ajinkya Rahane quite early in his career was earmarked as a special talent and made his first-class debut at the age of 19 against Karachi Urban in the Mohammad Nissar Trophy in September 2007, in Karachi. Ajinkya Rahane scored a century on debut.
Ajinkya Rahane was bought by Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2018 auction for Rs. 4 crores. He was initially appointed as vice-captain of Rajasthan Royals, deputy to Steve Smith, but after Steve Smith's ban in 2018 after the ball-tampering scandal, Ajinkya Rahane took over as captain of the team for a short period of time.
After waiting in the wings for quite a few years, Ajinkya Rahane finally made his Test debut against Australia at Delhi in 2013. The match was not successful for Rahane as he had twin failures and his Test future was again looking uncertain.
Ajinkya Rahane has so far played 66 Test matches and scored 4,203 runs at an average of 42.88, hitting nine centuries. Ajinkya Rahane in his brief career has scored hundreds in England, New Zealand, Australia and narrowly missed out on a hundred in South Africa at Durban, 2013.
