Smriti Mandhana was born in Mumbai. However, at the age of two, her family moved to the town of Madhavnagar in the city of Sangli in Maharashtra.

When Smriti Mandhana turned 9, she was selected in the U-15 team for Maharashtra. When she turned eleven, she was picked for the Maharashtra U-19 team
Smriti Mandhana's family has been actively involved in her cricket career. While her father organises her cricket schedules, her mother looks after her diet, as well as clothing while her brother undergoes training sessions with her in the nets.
