India captain Rohit Sharma was mighty pleased after his team registered their ninth straight win at this World Cup, beating the Netherlands by a whopping 160 runs at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium here on Sunday.

The skipper praised his team’s adaptability and highlighted the fact that different players have stepped up to the task on different occasions. “Since we started the tournament, it was all about thinking about one game at a time and playing that game well. We never wanted to look too far ahead because it’s a long tournament. It was important to break it down and focus on one game and play it well. Although we play a lot of cricket in India and we know the conditions, but still when you play different oppositions, that’s the challenge in different conditions. We adapted really well,” said Rohit, who scored a 54-ball 61 (8x4, 2x6) on the night.

The win ensured the hosts maintained their unbeaten streak before heading into Wednesday’s semi-final against New Zealand. And Rohit was particularly happy about this. “Very pleased with how we have played in these nine games. We have been very clinical from Game One till today. That’s because different individuals have stepped up at different times. This is a good sign for the team when everyone wants to take the responsibility and get the job done for the team,” he added.
