Former West Indies opener Sir Gordon Greenidge has advised Virat Kohli to take his mind away from his landmark 100th Test and instead focus on every delivery bowled by the Sri Lankan bowlers in the Mohali Test beginning today.

Greenidge is among nine players (Colin Cowdrey, Javed Miandad, Alec Stewart, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Graeme Smith, Hashim Amla, Joe Root and Ricky Ponting are the others) to have registered a hundred in their 100th Test match. Ponting slammed a hundred in both innings of his landmark Test (v SA at Sydney in 2006). Greenidge remarked: “I would like to offer my best wishes to Virat. My advice to him is just bat and it will come. Just focus on staying in the middle and that special moment will come. I am confident you can do this. Should your dream challenge your mind, just take a moment after every ball and refocus on the next delivery.”
Former SL captain Arjuna Ranatunga has also wished Kohli for his historic Test. “Kohli is a phenomenal player. He has lot to offer. My advice to the bowlers is to concentrate more on line and length, the wickets would come.”
