Kiwi's captain Kane Williamson on Monday said star pacer Trent Boult will remain a great servant of New Zealand and World cricket.


Trent Boult played his last T20 World Cup game for 'New Zealand on Monday. He returned with the figures of 4-0-14-2 against Papua New Guinea in their seven-wicket victory. The "Black Caps" ended their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign with a win.


"I think after every tournament there's a bit of reflection, this being Trent's last ICC tournament, a great servant of our game and the world game," said Kane Williamson after New Zealand failed to make it to the Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup 2024.

"(It is) sad to see him go but that's the nature of playing for a long time. As a guy, he's got such a big appetite to keep getting better, trains hard, (he is) very fit, and very clear with how he wants to operate," he said. "(Boult) held himself in great stead across formats. (He) sticks his chest out and performs well. (He has made) a fantastic contribution and has created the space for new players to come in," Williamson added.

Trent Boult made his appearance in 61 T20I matches for New Zealand and bagged 83 wickets. Featuring in 18 T20 World Cup matches. the pacer frabbed 34 wickets at 12.50 with an economy under six an over.

Coming to New Zealand's T20 World Cup 2024 campaign, the side faced two defeats out of four matches. In Group C, the Kiwis ended in the third position with a net run rate of +0.415 and four points.

The teams to make it to the Super 8 of the T20 World Cup 2024 are India, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, South Africa, West Indies, Australia, Bangladesh, England and the USA.
