He made his international T20I debut during the series against England. He has played 3 T20Is and scored 89 runs averaging above 44 with a half-century to his name.
During a live chat on the IPL team Mumbai Indians official Instagram handle, Suryakumar was asked as to why has he stopped bowling. A question that was actually put forth by Parthiv Patel. After a giggle, SK replied, "Why is he always after my bowling? I have not stopped bowling, I keep bowling in the nets. Whenever I get an opportunity to bowl in the game I will be there...Parthiv bhai, don't worry, you'll see my bowling soon."
Talking about giving Pollard a break from bowling, SK Yadav said, "No, no, you cannot take away bowling from Pollard. He bowls from the heart, so no chance you can take that away."
Yadav continued, " During the last game we (MI) played against CSK, I remember he scored 87 runs and bailed the side out, but those two crucial wickets that he took, he cherished that more." Watch the video below.

Further, during another live chat, the MI batsman spoke about his international outing. On being back in the Indian jersey and hitting a Jofra Archer delivery for a six, Suryakumar Yadav said, "If you saw clearly, I was not happy as Rohit (Sharma) was out. But I was also excited at the time. If you saw, I was running towards the field in excitement. When I wore my pads and sat in the dugout, I was a little nervous. It's important though, because if you are not nervous, how will you perform well. I began to wonder as to how do I play at the number 3 position - not only for Mumbai Indians - but also my state back home. As I got my guard on, I got an answer that I do not need to do anything different. Only follow what I have been doing all along."
Talking about the six he hit off Archer, SK Yadav said that people have been asking him as to how he managed that. They also asked him if he was afraid of facing his first ball on his debut.

"You also need to stay calm and I knew that as that's what I have been doing in the IPL. At the back of my mind, I had a feeling he would bowl that delivery and (luckily) he did. I would not know what would happen if he didn't bowl that delivery but there's no need to think about that now. I am very happy," said Yadav.
