Batting legend Sunil Gavaskar has predicted a big series win for India in the forthcoming five-match Test series starting in Nottingham on Wednesday.

Gavaskar reckoned that the absence of England’s top all-rounders like Ben Stokes and Chris Woakes as well as pacer Jofra Archer in the upcoming series provides India a massive chance to come up with an overseas win.

Woakes and Archer are recovering from injuries while Stokes has decided to stay away due to personal reasons.

“I left England about 10 days ago and the weather was absolutely brilliant. It was hot most of the time. I am told it’s been raining a little bit now. But if it’s hot and if there are hot conditions for 22 out of 25 possible days, I think India will win 4-0. In case you have a situation where the weather is going to be a factor then I think India will win 3-1. But, I think India will still go on to win because England are now a very depleted side,” Gavaskar said during a virtual media interaction on Monday.

The India v England Test series will be live on SONY SIX channel from 3.30 pm starting August 4.
