After being rushed to hospital following discomfort in the chest, former India team captain and current BCCI president Sourav Ganguly is stable, announced Apollo Hospital on Wednesday. Ganguly was admitted to the hospital just weeks after he underwent treatment for an ailment that was related to the heart.

"Mr Sourav Ganguly, 48 years old male, has come for a checkup of his cardiac condition. There is no change in his parameteres since his last hospitalisation and his vital parameters are stable," read a statement from the Apollo Gleneagles Hospital, Kolkata.

Earlier on January 2, Sourav Ganguly was admitted to Woodlands hospital in Kolkata after he complained of discomfort in the chest and had undergone angioplasty. Ganguly was discharged from the hospital after five days.

"I thank the doctors at the hospital for the treatment. I am absolutely fine. Hopefully, I will be ready to fly soon," Ganguly told reporters outside the Woodlands Hospital.

When he was admitted first, Ganguly spent five days in the hospital and was then looked after at home.

The treating doctors also kept a "constant vigil" on Ganguly's health and 'appropriate measures will be taken from time to time', the hospital said.
