Mumbai coach Pravin Amre had invited Tendulkar to talk to the team on Wednesday. Though the batting great spent nearly 30 minutes with the Mumbai team, he could not meet the victorious J&K players due to prior commitments.
J&K media manager Shahana Zargar told mid-day: "Our coach Sunil Joshi received a message from Tendulkar on Wednesday evening, expressing his desire to meet the team. "He spoke to them for nearly an hour and congratulated them on their massive win."
A team source said Tendulkar urged J&K players to concentrate solely on their cricket. "Sachin told the boys to forget about their problems back home in J&K and focus only on playing cricket. He reminded them that problems afflict everyone, but it is important to stay focused.
He said the team has many talented cricketers, who have a bright future in the game. This is an important season for J&K and they should not drop the intensity (after beating Mumbai)," the source said.
