India's oldest first-class cricketer, Raghunath Ramachandra Chandorkar, passed away at the age of 100. Chandorkar breathed his last in Ambernath on Friday, according to his grandson Shravan Hardikar, the commissioner of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation.
Chandorkar, a right-handed batsman, played six Ranji Trophy games for Maharashtra and Mumbai and scored 155 runs in seven first-class matches. Chandorkar was only the third Indian first-class cricketer to reach a century in life.

Interestingly, the cricket fraternity believed Chandorkar was born in 1922 until statistician Prakash Dahatonde managed to get hold of a page from the cricketer’s passport which had his correct date of birth as November 21, 1920. “My grandfather was the most loving, caring person and was a great inspiration to all. He was witty and could make anyone laugh,” said Hardikar.
