Though Pant felt the scheduling is slightly tough, he praised his teammates for adapting well to the Chennai pitch.
“I think it's slightly challenging because of COVID. But, as a team, we are not focusing on all these outside things too much. The BCCI has done really well to give us a good bubble, so we are focusing more on cricket. And it’s good to see people adjusting to the pitch like this [Chennai], especially when you are coming from Wankhede [in Mumbai],” Pant said at the post-match virtual press conference on Tuesday night.
Delhi chased MI’s 137-9 thanks to opener Shikhar Dhawan’s 45 in 42 balls (5x4, 1x6) and a 29-ball 33 (4x4) from Steven Smith, DC had to fight till the last over. But Lalit Yadav’s unbeaten 22 and Shimron Hetmyer’s 14 not out saw them through with five balls to spare.
Earlier, DC’s leg-spinner Amit Mishra bowled well to dismiss four batsmen which included skipper Rohit Sharma (44 in 30 balls, 3x4, 3x6) and Kieron Pollard (2). Mishra conceded 24 runs in his quota of four overs.
DC, has six points after four games and will now play Sunrisers Hyderabad in Chennai on Sunday.
