IPL 2021: Records set by Indian Premier League teams over the years

As we gear up for the Indian Premier League 2021 season, today we present to you some of the records set by IPL teams ever since its inception in 2008

The Indian Premier League began in 2008. Over the years, many IPL franchises went on to set many records in terms of wins, losses, titles, highest scores and more. 


As we gear up for the Indian Premier League 2021 season, today we present to you some of the records set by IPL teams ever since its inception in 2008. Rohit Sharma's Mumbai Indians seem to hold quite a few of those records. However, MS Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings and Virat Kohli's Royal Challengers Bangalore are not too far behind.


Mumbai Indians have won the most IPL titles with 5 under their name. (2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, 2020)


Mumbai Indians also have the most wins in IPL with 118 from 203 matches played and 81 losses.

Delhi Capitals have the most number of losses in IPL with 105 from 194 matches. They have 84 wins.

The highest win percentage in matches goes to Chennai Super Kings with 59.83 per cent. CSK have played 179 matches winning 106 and losing 71.

Pune Warriors have the lowest win percentage in IPL at 26.66. Pune played 46 matches with 12 wins and 33 losses

Royal Challengers Bangalore have the highest team total. RCB scored 263/5 against Pune Warriors on April 23, 2013. RCB also registered the second-highest team total in IPL when they scored 248/3 against Gujarat Lions on May 14, 2016.

Royal Challengers Bangalore also have the lowest team total in IPL. RCB scored 49 runs against KKR on April 23, 2017.

The highest match aggregate by two teams in an IPL match is 469 runs. This occurred on April 3, 2010, in the Chennai Super Kings vs Rajasthan Royals match. CSK posted 246/5 and RR replied with 223/5. CSK won by 23 runs.

The lowest match aggregate by two teams in an IPL match is 135 runs. This occurred on April 30, 2017, in the Punjab Kings (then KXIP) vs Delhi Capitals (then DD). DC were dismissed for 67 runs and Punjab won it without a loss of a wicket.

Mumbai Indians hold the record for the largest victory in an IPL match. During their match against Delhi Capitals (then Delhi Daredevils), MI posted a total of 213 and won by 146 runs on May 6, 2017.

Deccan Chargers hold the record for most extras given by a team in an IPL match. DC gave away 28 runs as extras during their tie vs KKR  on April 20, 2008.
