Team India's chances of bouncing back in the ongoing five-Test series against England received a significant boost after pacer Jasprit Bumrah was rendered fit to play the third Test at Trent Bridge from August 18. mid-day has learnt that Bumrah, 24, who has played just three Tests, will be back in action after being on the sidelines for nearly a month and a half due to surgery on his broken left thumb.

Bumrah suffered the injury during the first T20I against Ireland. He underwent surgery in Leeds and then returned home for rehab at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore. He was drafted in the Test squad subject to his recovery and fitness.
