After the 25th match of the ICC World Cup 2023 between England and Sri Lanka in which Sri Lankan bowlers overpowered their bowling skills the tournament now heads to its next clash.


On Friday, Pakistan will face the mighty South Africa in Chennai's MA Chidambaram Stadium. Both captains will eagerly look to secure a win in order to boost their ICC World Cup 2023 campaign.



Pakistan skipper Babar Azam won the toss and elected to bat first against South Africa.

Pakistan suffered a big blow as one of their pacers Hasan Ali will not be playing today's clash due to a fever. Hasan Ali was named as a replacement player for young speed gun Naseem Shah as he was ruled out due to a shoulder injury.

Protea's wicketkeeper batsman Quinton de Kock will be eyed by many spectators. He is the leading run scorer in the ICC World Cup 2023 so far having 407 runs under his belt and has also registered the highest individual score in the tournament which is 174 runs. the left hander already has three tons under his name and looks in good touch in white ball cricket.

The story of match 25:

The clash between Sri Lanka and England was played in Bengaluru's M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. England skipper Jos Buttler won the toss and elected to bat first. England lost the early wicket of opener Dawid Malan. Jonny Bairstow scored 30 runs and looked stable, but was later dismissed in Kasun Rajitha's over. None of the English batters were able to score huge runs meanwhile Ben Stokes scored 43 runs. Sri Lanka bowled out England for just 156 runs.

Sri Lanka's Pathum Nissanka and Sadeera Samarawickrama smashed 77 runs and 65 runs, respectively and won the match for Sri Lanka by eight wickets.
