Team India have been rocked by Covid-19 ahead of their limited-overs series against West Indies. mid-day has learnt that at least five to seven members of the Indian camp are suspected to be Covid positive.

Sources said on Wednesday that India openers Shikhar Dhawan and Ruturaj Gaikwad have tested positive while report of Mumbai batsman Shreyas Iyer is awaited. However, he is believed to have been struck by the virus. Even some support staff members have tested positive. The BCCI is re-testing the entire contingent at the moment.
The unavailability of Dhawan and Gaikwad will significantly affect Rohit Sharma’s plans as India take on West Indies in the first ODI at Ahmedabad on February 6. In order to minimise the threat of Covid, the BCCI rejigged the venues and restricted the three ODIs and T20Is to Ahmedabad and Kolkata respectively.
