>> Bishen Bedi was born in Amritsar, Punjab.


>> Bedi is married to Glenith, whom he met at a party in Melbourne in 1968.

>> His son, Angad Bedi played cricket at u-19 level and is now an actor.

>> He was famously known for the colourful patka (turban) he wore during matches.

>> As the captain of the Indian team, he once forfeited an ODI match between India and Pakistan due to the opposition pacers bowling bouncers excessively. The astonishing fact here, being that India needed 23 runs to win from 14 deliveries with 8 wickets remaining!

>> Bishen Bedi holds the record for best economical figures in a 60-over World Cup match with figures, 12 overs – 8 runs – 1 wicket at an eco. rate of 0.50.

>> Former cricketer Jim Laker once stated that his idea of heaven would be to have Ray Lindwall and Bishen Bedi bowling from opposite ends.

>> He made his first class debut at age 15 and his international debut at age 20.

>> Bedi was the second spinner to become the ODI captain of the Indian team.

>> He is part of the Indian spin quartet of the 60’s and 70’s, which also consists of - Erapalli Prasanna and Srinivas Venkataraghavan and Bhagwat Chandrasekhar.

>> Bedi has played 67 Tests with 266 wickets a bowling average of 28.71 and best figures of 7/98.
